About Haylie Comet

Adopt a Dog or Cat in Edmonton, Alberta No longer accepting new applications More photos of me can be found here. Haylie Comet   |   Female   |   Chihuahua X   | My family were no longer able to take care of me so I was surrendered to Zoe's to find a new furever home. My name is Haylie Comet, and just like a real comet, when I have the zoomies I am so fast you will blink and miss me! I am just a tiny little thing. I’m not sure what you know about my breed but we don’t really know what “small” means. Little package, BIG personality. I am a bit vocal when I am feeling playful with gurgles and little barks. It is important that I make my presence known, considering I am pretty much the size of a guinea pig… Hah! I love snuggles and I just love to lay on or near you at all times. And if you get up, I will follow…adventures are better together. I also LOVE playing chase with all my foster siblings. I can zoom and zoom all day long! I’m new to the rescue and have just started learning in a structured environment. I am good on my leash and my potty training is coming along very nice! We are at about a 7/10 so with continued consistency I will make even more progress. A structured home with lots of frequent access to outside will be pivotal. I am not entirely crate trained as I don’t like being confined and alone when my humans aren't near. I am young enough that this is something I may be able to learn with time, but I do well being free in the house. I am getting better with recall but I am still timid so I am slowly learning this as I gain confidence in the world. As a condition of adoption, we must register for a force free, in-person, group training class for puppies. We'll learn so much and bond and I can have some socializing time with other dogs in a safe environment, which is really critical for young pups! Please check out www.albertaforcefreealliance.com for some great force free trainers! I will be spayed, up to date on my vaccinations, dewormed and microchipped. When coming into the rescue I had an ear and eye infection which has since cleared up. I do have a bit of sensitive skin which will need to be monitored as I grow. This means good quality diet, regular baths and hygiene should all remain top of mind with my care. With all that being said, I am a very typical happy puppy, but it just appears that I am showing some early signs of allergies which is common for my breed. I may need to have special diets as a grow up and may require some additional allergy supports. Zoe's cannot guarantee what breeds are in me or my size as an adult.
