Meet Fawkes, a resilient and loyal companion named after Dumbledore’s legendary phoenix—and just like his namesake, he’s proof that new beginnings can be extraordinary. This handsome former sled dog has embraced his second chance at life and is ready to find a home where he truly belongs. At 9 years old and 63 pounds, Fawkes is in fantastic shape—agile, graceful, and always up for an outdoor adventure. He’s food-motivated (treats are the way to his heart!) and thrives when he can explore the world alongside his people. At home, Fawkes is calm, quiet, and wonderfully polite. He enjoys affection in short bursts—he’ll happily accept cuddles and kisses before returning to his favorite resting spot on the floor, often positioned strategically so he can keep an eye on everyone. His greatest joy is simply being near his humans, following you from room to room like a devoted shadow. Fawkes is a strong walker who benefits from a confident handler, but he’s attentive and responsive, making him a rewarding companion to work with. He’s friendly and interested, and gentle with people of all ages. While he gets along best with larger dogs, his enthusiasm can be too much for smaller ones. He also has a natural drive for curiosity, so squirrels, birds, and cats are best admired from a distance. He’s still adjusting to some parts of home life—car rides, housetraining (which is a work in progress and on the path to completion), and longer periods alone— he’s making steady improvements every day with patience and consistency. He sleeps beautifully through the night; it’s just that when he’s gotta go during the day, he’s gotta go! Fawkes would thrive in a home that appreciates his loyal nature, enjoys long walks, and can provide the structure and companionship he craves. In return, he’ll be your steadfast sidekick—the kind of dog who simply wants to be wherever you are.
