Meet Duke! Are you looking for your next adventure buddy? Look no further! Duke is a 4-year-old Akita with alot of energy and a love for adventure! He would be a great hiking companion and especially loves the long winter days, gallivanting in the snow! Duke is affectionate, playful and very obedient. In his previous home he learned sit, stay, wait, down, in, gentle and come. He is fully housetrained and loves a car ride! Duke loves to play, but can become possessive of certain toys and food so an experienced guardian, who has patience to work on resource guarding is a MUST. Duke can get excited and doesn’t always realize his size, so he would do best in a home without children. He is good with other dogs but would prefer to be the only animal in the home. Duke is looking for a loving home where he can continue to thrive. If you’re looking for a loyal, cheerful companion ready for his next chapter, Duke could be your perfect match. We welcome all applicants, though prior experience with Akitas or large dogs in general is considered a plus! Do you think you could be Duke’s person? Here is how to find out: 1) Visit our centre to meet him in person during adoption hours. Tuesday-Sunday, 12-3pm. 2) Submit an online application adopt.spca.bc.ca and staff will contact the first suitable adopter to set-up a visit! Kindly note that due to the high number of applications and the availability of walk-in adoptions an online applicant would have to be available to come in for a meet within 24 hrs. *Side note: the more you add to your application about you and what you are looking for in a canine companion, the better we can match animals with adopters!
