About Ginger

Ginger is a shy, tender-hearted girl with a cheerful little spirit hiding underneath her cautious first impression. She may need some time to decide that you are safe, wonderful, and possibly worth leaving the underside of the table for, but once she does, you will discover a loving, playful, deeply loyal companion who has so much affection to give. This sweet girl is looking for patient, gentle people who truly enjoy spending time with their dog. A quieter home would suit her best, especially one with someone around often, perhaps early retired or home most of the time. Ginger wants a human buddy. Someone to walk with, explore with, hang out with, and eventually cuddle with on the couch once her brave little heart has unpacked its suitcase. Once she is comfortable, Ginger enjoys zooming around the yard, asking for belly rubs, and settling in close for couch time. Until then, and occasionally even after then, she may still choose her favorite hiding spot when the world feels a little too large. She is especially nervous of men and is most comfortable in the company of women, so she will need a home that can respect her pace and help her feel safe. Ginger is fully house trained, knows basic commands, has fantastic recall, and is quick to learn. She has learned “stay,” wants to please, and enjoys treat-based brain games like rally-style exercises. She is not a huge toy enthusiast, but she does love a good walk. Long strolls around the neighborhood, beach adventures, and forest trails are very much her idea of a grand day out. She enjoys meeting other dogs, big and small, and does well in canine company, though she is still learning that not every dog wants to be social. She is looking for a home with a fully fenced yard another happy and friendly dog who wants a little sister to play with. She is still learning not to pull on leash and can be strong, quick, and occasionally underfoot, so she would not be the right fit for someone with balance concerns or mobility aids. Cats, deer, and squirrels are all very exciting in her opinion, likely too exciting. Ginger has lovely manners and has even behaved beautifully at garden parties and social gatherings. She can be left alone for a few hours, but she is a social girl at heart and does not like to miss out. She sheds, but thankfully she enjoys brushing and tolerates bath time like a polite little lady. Ginger is not a bold, bounce-into-your-arms type of dog. She is a soft, cautious, deeply sweet girl who needs love to arrive gently. For the right person, she will be an incredibly rewarding companion: loyal, funny, affectionate, and full of quiet little victories. 🐾
