About Kovie Butler (Courtesy Post)

Adopt a Dog or Cat in Edmonton, Alberta Kovie Butler (Courtesy Post)   |   Male   |   Black Lab x   | At 7 months old, Kovie was adopted from another rescue and has lived with his current family since. Kovie has no ill behaviours and his rehoming is in no way his doing, unfortunately the child in the home is severely allergic and as much as they tried to remedy the situation, it is only getting harder for them to both be in the same space. As a courtesy post Zoe's has not met "Kovie". We facilitate the adoption behind the scenes to ensure a safe rehoming. We ensure the animal is up to date on vet care, spayed/neutered, and is assessed by one of our partner trainers - Zoe's does not personally know the animal. It is the adopters' responsibility to do their due diligence - ask for vet records, behavioral assessment, microchip information, and/or a trial period. Hello World, my name is Kovie and I am a happy go lucky boy. I love my family and I love making new friends at the dog park. Sniffing adventures are one of the best parts of my day, but my favourite part is being able to be loved by my family and join them in their daily adventures! I even love going for car rides to do errands if it means I get to spend time with my family. Sadly, as much as I love them, the little girl in my home is very allergic to me. I know what that's like, because I also have some very bad allergies. The only difference is, even though they love me, I am the cause of her allergies. My family is now looking to find me a home where I can be ever present in their space, somewhere I can dote on a family where I won't cause anyone to become sick. I really just want a space where I can be included in all your adventures. I would also need a family who continues with my allergy management. I promise to show you how affectionate and sweet I can be. Kovie is a very calm and relaxed personality, he is a very sweet and good natured boy who loves to be around his people. He enjoys car rides and thrives to be included in family activities. He will bark when people come to the door but settles in an appropriate amount of time. Kovie appears to have mild anxiety, but calms quickly in his routine and reassurance. He is a Very Good Boy on Leash and enjoys sniffing and exploring, although when excited, he will pull so a good harness, positive training and reinforcement of leash skills would benefit his adopter. Kovie is crate trained and will enter crate when asked, though typically he is left to free roam when home alone and does well with that freedom. He benefits from routine and family involvement and presence. Kovie has significant allergy related medical needs which are maintained on a kangaroo-based diet due to food sensitivities. His current vet is Lakeside Vet and also sees a veterinary dermatologist in St Albert every 6 months for management. He is currently on 3 different daily allergy medications and is bathed 1-2 times a week. His food and medication cost is approx $400/month Kovie is Neutered and up to date on Vaccines
