What is LocalPetFinder?
LocalPetFinder is a free pet-discovery tool, not a shelter. We aggregate live adoption listings from real Canadian humane societies, SPCAs, and foster-based rescues into one searchable place. Every dog and cat profile links directly to the rescue, where you apply.
We never run breeder ads and never charge adopters. The site is funded at the brand level, not by per-adoption commissions, so there is no incentive to push you toward any particular shelter or pet. Your adoption fee goes to the rescue, in full, and we never see it.
How are listings kept fresh?
We scrape participating shelter websites on a regular cadence. Adopted animals come off the public listings on the same refresh cycle. The number you see at the top of this page is live as of the most recent scrape.
Which provinces are live?
Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario. More provinces will come online as we add the local rescue partnerships needed to cover them well. Atlantic Canada and Quebec are on the roadmap but not yet scoped.
