Why Texas Needs a New Home
Unfortunately, he has an extremely high prey drive, and we have reached a point where we can no longer safely manage him in our current environment. We recently moved into a new home and invested approximately $12,000 in a fully fenced yard so that he could have a safe place to run and enjoy the outdoors. Unfortunately, he has learned that he can chew through the chain-link fencing and escape. In the past week alone, he has gotten out multiple times and has killed our neighbour’s chickens. We have tried to prevent this, but he has become incredibly determined once he knows there is an opportunity to get out. We cannot risk him escaping again, hurting more animals, being hit by a car, or causing further problems for our neighbours. This is not a decision we are making because he is a bad dog. He isn’t. He is a genuinely wonderful dog who unfortunately has a prey drive that is beyond what we can safely accommodate.

Three years ago, we found this sweet boy as a stray, and since then he has been an incredibly loved member of our family. He is approximately 5 years old and has been a wonderful dog in so many ways. He is affectionate, loving with our family, and great with children. He is the kind of dog who is perfectly happy to spend most of the day sleeping beside you and being part of the family.
