About Granger

Meet Granger! Granger is a 3.5-year-old mixed breed boy with a big personality and an even bigger capacity to grow. When he first came into our care, he was very shut down and reserved—but it didn’t take long for his true self to shine through. Once he felt safe, Granger blossomed into a fun, expressive, and engaging companion. Granger has spent time at one of our partner kennels working on more formal training, especially around his tendency to be a bit mouthy. He has made great progress, but this is still something his future family should be aware of. During moments of excitement—like putting on or taking off his leash, or if he feels left out on walks—he may try to nip at hands, ankles, or clothing. We believe this behavior comes from a bit of FOMO, especially if he sees attention being given to another dog. Granger is muzzle trained and, while it’s not his favorite accessory, he understands that it’s sometimes needed and handles it respectfully in certain situations. This has been a helpful management tool as he continues to learn and succeed. Because of this, Granger would do best with adopters who are attentive, consistent, and willing to continue reinforcing his training. The good news? Granger is food motivated, and treats have been an incredibly helpful tool in his learning process. He does well with female dogs and would likely thrive with an established, calm female companion to help show him the ropes—but he would also be perfectly happy as a solo pup soaking up all the attention for himself. Cats, however, are not a match for Granger—they look a little too much like toys in his eyes. Granger has already come so far and will continue to do amazing things in the right home. With patience, structure, and positive reinforcement, he’ll make a loyal and rewarding companion.
