Based on Owner Rehoming's listing, and in some cases inferred from Alfie's description. Always confirm with them before deciding.
We have family circumstances with elderly parents that are pulling us away from Squamish way more often than we had anticipated. The parents live in Quebec and we are back and forth, I drove to Quebec with Alfie for a few months hoping the situation would get better, but it's not. He handled the trip across Canada amazingly. It's a big loss for us rehoming this dog, it's heartbreaking, but we think in the end it's best for him.
We brought Alfie home from Mexico when he was just 4 months old. He was born at a pet rescue; his mom had been hit by a car, and the 7 pups needed to be hand-fed to survive, so his beginnings were with very warm, caring humans, so he is very adjusted to people. He is "we think" a Border Collie/Lab mix?? But it's a bit hard to say. He gets along well with all dogs; so far we haven't met a dog he doesn't like. He had a brief period of leash aggression, but we worked with him on that and it seems to have disappeared. Alfie is an energetic dog, but he does have an off-switch when well exercised.…
Shelter breed labels are an educated guess from a dog's looks, and they are often wrong. If you adopt Alfie, a DNA test can show the actual breed mix, which helps you plan training, exercise and health checks. See how the two main tests sold in Canada compare.
