One search for rescue cats across Canada
Most adoption sites make you guess which shelter has the cat you want. LocalPetFinder pulls live listings from humane societies, SPCAs, and foster-based rescues into one place, so you can search every participating rescue at once. Narrow by province and city when you know where you are looking, or browse the whole country when you are open to travelling for the right cat.
Every profile links straight to the rescue that has the cat. You apply with them directly, and your adoption fee goes to the rescue in full. We never run breeder ads, never charge adopters, and never take a cut of an adoption.
Frequently asked questions
How many rescue cats can I adopt across Canada on LocalPetFinder?▾
The counter at the top of this page is live as of our most recent scrape. We aggregate cats from real humane societies, SPCAs, and foster-based rescues across every launched province, so the number moves as cats get adopted and new ones are listed.
Which provinces and cities are covered?▾
We currently cover launched cities in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario. Use the province and city filters to narrow the search to your area, or leave them on "all" to browse the whole country.
How do I adopt a cat I find here?▾
Open any cat and click through to the rescue. Every profile links straight to the shelter or foster network that has the cat, where you submit your application. LocalPetFinder never handles the adoption or the fee. Your adoption fee goes to the rescue, in full.
Can I find bonded pairs and indoor-only cats?▾
Yes. The temperament and "gets along with" filters help you find cats suited to your home, including ones good with other cats, dogs, or kids. Many rescues also list bonded pairs that need to go home together.
Does it cost anything to use LocalPetFinder?▾
No. The site is free for adopters and we never run breeder ads. We are a discovery tool, not a shelter, and we never charge you to find or contact a rescue cat.
