About cat adoption in Chatham
No rescue currently lists adoptable cats directly in Chatham on LocalPetFinder, so this page does the next best thing: it pulls the live cats from Windsor-area organisations, about 50 minutes west along Highway 401, into one place for Chatham-Kent families. Any cat a Chatham owner lists for rehoming appears above them.
That makes this page different from most on the site, and worth being straight about — the listings below are mostly a Windsor feed rather than a local one. We are not a shelter: you apply directly with the rescue holding the cat, the site is free, and most rescues arrange a meet-and-greet at the shelter or foster home once your application is in, so the 401 trip usually happens once or twice.
If nothing fits today, the alert below tells you the moment a cat is listed in Chatham itself or in the Windsor area. It is worth setting: a Chatham-Kent owner rehoming a cat will surface here before anywhere else, and those listings tend to move quickly because the household can describe exactly how the cat lives.
Chatham Cat Adoption FAQ
Are there cat rescues in Chatham?
No rescue currently lists adoptable cats directly in Chatham on LocalPetFinder. Chatham-Kent adopters are served by Windsor-area organisations about 50 minutes west on Highway 401. Cats that Chatham owners list for rehoming do appear on this page, above the Windsor listings.
How far do Chatham adopters travel to adopt a cat?
Usually about 50 minutes each way along Highway 401 to the Windsor area. Most rescues arrange a meet-and-greet once your application is approved rather than before, so you typically make the drive once or twice rather than shopping around in person.
Can I list a cat for rehoming in Chatham?
Yes, free, and it is the fastest way a cat becomes visible locally. Choose Chatham as the location and your cat stays with you until you approve an adopter. Owner listings appear above the Windsor-area cats on this page, and they tend to move quickly because you can describe exactly how the cat lives day to day.
