Passion for Paws

Founded in 1869, the Montreal SPCA is Quebec's largest animal welfare organization and by far the biggest adoption operation in the province. Its cats and dogs are housed at the shelter rather than in foster homes, so adopters can meet several animals in one visit. It operates in both French and English.

Rescue All Dogs is a Montreal foster-based rescue that also brings dogs in from outside Quebec, so profiles name the city each dog is fostered in and where it was rescued from. Listings are the most complete of any Montreal rescue we track, stating age, size, breed, energy level and dog, cat and child compatibility alongside vaccination, neutering and any outstanding medical needs. Dogs already in an adoption trial are held back rather than listed.

It takes in a handful of dogs at a time, often seniors or animals with a medical history, and profiles read as long first-person write-ups covering the medical situation in plain terms alongside temperament and the kind of home the dog needs.
