"Hound mix" is a catch-all label rescues use for dogs that look and act like scent hounds: think Beagle, coonhound, Foxhound, and Basset ancestry blended in countless combinations. Living with a nose

Scent hounds were bred to track and trail, and that nose runs the show. Once a hound mix catches an interesting smell, recall can evaporate, which is why a secure fence and a leash in open areas matter so much.
