We are rehoming Melody solely because we no longer believe living in a multi-pet household is in the best interests of either Melody or our other animals. Melody lives with our smaller Pomsky and is good with him approximately 90% of the time. Unfortunately, she has developed resource-guarding behaviour and has had a cluster of aggressive incidents toward him, particularly involving high-value resources. She has never broken his skin or caused an injury, but our Pomsky has become increasingly frightened of her. He now sometimes hides, cowers and is reluctant to go outside when Melody is present. Melody generally leaves our cat alone but has also had some aggressive incidents with her. For everyone’s long-term wellbeing, we believe Melody needs a loving home where she is the only animal and doesn’t have to navigate these dynamics. This is an extremely difficult decision because Melody is a beautiful, good and deeply loved dog. We are not looking to place her quickly. She will remain safely with us while we look for the right home, and our priority is finding an experienced, loving person or family who understands her needs and can give her a successful permanent home.
Meet Melody ❤️ Melody is a sweet, gentle and affectionate approximately 2-year-old girl. She is a total cuddle muffin who loves being close to her humans. She is playful, intelligent and very ball-obsessed—having someone throw the ball for her every day is one of her favourite things. She is also an anxious girl who benefits from plenty of exercise and activity. Melody is exceptionally gentle with people and has never shown aggression toward a human—not even a growl.
