Question 1

Does Vaughan have a cat shelter?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The City of Vaughan's shelter, Vaughan Animal Services, adopts out cats and kittens from 70 Tigi Court, Unit 47, Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Its adoptable cats appear first on this page, followed by rescue cats from across York Region and Toronto.

Question 2

How much does it cost to adopt a cat in Vaughan?

Accepted Answer

At Vaughan Animal Services the 2026 fee is $185 for a cat or kitten. It includes spay or neuter surgery, a rabies vaccine and a microchip, and for Vaughan residents the first year's pet licence. Rescue fees vary by rescue, so check each cat's own listing.

Question 3

Can I adopt a kitten from the City of Vaughan shelter?

Accepted Answer

When the shelter has kittens, yes, and they are listed here alongside its adult cats. Kittens usually arrive from spring through early fall and are adopted quickly. If none are listed, an alert will tell you when one appears, and an adult cat is often the easier first adoption because its personality is already settled.

Question 4

Is there a Vaughan Humane Society for cats?

Accepted Answer

We have not found an organization called the Vaughan Humane Society. Cat adoptions in Vaughan go through the City's own shelter, Vaughan Animal Services, and cats from the Ontario SPCA and Toronto-area rescues also appear on this page.

Question 5

Is LocalPetFinder the same as Petfinder?

Accepted Answer

No. Petfinder.com is a US-based national platform owned by Purina that lists some York Region and Toronto-area rescue cats but with incomplete coverage. LocalPetFinder is an independent Canadian aggregator covering the City of Vaughan shelter and the rescues that serve Vaughan, refreshed regularly. The two are different platforms.

Question 6

What is the Canadian alternative to Petfinder for Vaughan?

Accepted Answer

LocalPetFinder is the Canadian pet finder for Vaughan rescue cats. Unlike Petfinder.com (US-based, partial Canadian coverage), every listing here comes from a Canadian shelter or rescue and is labelled with its real city. If you searched for "petfinder vaughan," "pet finder website," or any petfinder-style Canadian directory, you are already in the right place.

Question 7

Where can I adopt a cat near me in Vaughan?

Accepted Answer

LocalPetFinder brings adoptable cats from Vaughan-area rescues and shelters together in one place, refreshed regularly. If you searched "cat adoption near me", "cat rescue near me", or "animal shelters near me" from the Vaughan area, you are already in the right place — every listing here is from a Vaughan-area organization.

Question 8

Are there cat rescues near Vaughan?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Vaughan and the surrounding Ontario area have several cat rescues and shelters. LocalPetFinder collects their adoptable cats here so you can compare nearby options in one place instead of checking each rescue's website one by one.
