Chatons Orphelins Montréal

Founded in 1869, the Montreal SPCA is Quebec's largest animal welfare organization and by far the biggest adoption operation in the province. Its cats and dogs are housed at the shelter rather than in foster homes, so adopters can meet several animals in one visit. It operates in both French and English.

Rescue All Dogs is a Montreal foster-based rescue that also brings dogs in from outside Quebec, so profiles name the city each dog is fostered in and where it was rescued from. Listings are the most complete of any Montreal rescue we track, stating age, size, breed, energy level and dog, cat and child compatibility alongside vaccination, neutering and any outstanding medical needs. Dogs already in an adoption trial are held back rather than listed.

Rosie Animal Adoption is a small Montreal foster-based rescue placing dogs and cats across Quebec. It takes in a handful of dogs at a time, often seniors or animals with a medical history, and profiles read as long first-person write-ups covering the medical situation in plain terms alongside temperament and the kind of home the dog needs. Dogs already reserved stay listed and are marked as such.

Gerdy's Rescues and Adoptions is a Montreal rescue placing dogs and cats, adopting only to Montreal and the surrounding area. Profiles are written as long narrative pieces rather than spec sheets, covering how the dog behaves with people, other animals and children, and what kind of home suits it. Applications are handled through a form rather than direct messages.

Passion for Paws is a Montreal foster-based rescue running a rehoming program: dogs stay with foster families rather than in kennels, and each profile opens with why the dog is being rehomed. Listings are bilingual and unusually candid, stating what the dog still needs work on alongside its personality and training. Dogs already in an adoption trial are marked as such rather than shown as available.
