Border Collies are a sound, long-lived working breed, but they carry a specific set of genetic conditions worth knowing before you adopt one in Saskatoon. Epilepsy

A seizure can look like collapse with paddling, stiffening, drooling, loss of bladder control, and a confused recovery period. The first one is frightening, and any first seizure warrants a vet visit to look for a cause. Epilepsy is diagnosed by your vet after ruling out other causes, and many epileptic dogs are well controlled on long-term medication chosen and monitored by your vet, living full lives.
